A name identifies the character of a person. For example Peter’s name was changed to the Rock from Simon, and Abram was changed to Abraham, father of many nations.

1 John 3:2 - Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Scriptural references: 1 John 3:2;23, Heb 12:2, Eph 5:13-17, John 17:4-5;14;21;23, 2 Cor 3:18

When we expose ourselves to the revelation that we are the sons of God, we progressively become like Him.

1 John 3:23 says that we should believe on the name of Jesus Christ. But we cannot believe in what we don’t know. The more we strive to understand the name the more we can believe and the more we can look not only unto him but into him.

The various names are to arouse in us the vision of what we are meant to be. Our chief end is to glorify God. The various names reveal many dimensions of His glory.

Heb 12:2 - Satan sets things up to create shame. Jesus Himself experienced shame.
But for the joy set before Him he despised the shame. When we know Him, and deliberately look to Him, we will also despise the shame.

It is always important to have a target. Vision without motion is television. When we keep Him as our focus, we will walk in the path that no gate can be shut against us!

Looking unto Him as the author and finisher of our faith involves looking unto his coming and looking to his intercession.

It is our year of Great Faith. Great Faith is not in our strength. We can draw the strength for Great Faith by the revelations of His name

We have a part to play in ensuring that the world knows that God sent Jesus. Through the way we are united, perfected, completed as a church, the world will know that God sent Jesus and that He loves them just as God loves Him.

Think on these 3 questions
1. Do I really believe the name of Jesus?
2. What does the name mean to my life?
3. Which gates of life have resisted me and must open at the mention of that name?
